Although the business I know of has yet to be criminally or civilly pursued by any government agency, it is foreseeable that in the near future the owners of a store in Willits, CA will face federal criminal and civil penalties.

The owners of a certain market in Willits, CA are selling Alcohol, Tobacco (Cigarettes) and Hot Food to anyone who walks in with a California EBT Card which is a benefit card that holds Food Stamp Benefits.

Not only does this violate California State Laws it also surely violates a dozen Federal Laws and could end the owners of this market in Federal Prison. I personally have not reported the market in question because honestly its not a big secret.... people who do not even live in this state are aware that this is the place you go to buy tobacco and liquor with Food Stamps.

I think it is the duty of local law enforcement and federal authorities to make good effort to locate and take what action is necessary to end this fraud and abuse of a welfare program.

I do not at all approve of the actions of this market and its owners and I strongly consider this a case of fraud and theft of the government by the market's owners and waste, fraud and theft by every consumer who participates in this abusive practice.

Just from the information I am privy to I would estimate that in excess of $10,000 in federal food stamps are illegally used in this fashion at this store.... every year!
