Two federal inmates at United States Penitentiary at Atwater, CA stabbed a Jose Rivera a rookie prison guard to death Friday.

It is a well known fact nationwide throughout the Federal Prison system that the guards, administrators and other staff at USP Atwater are under attack on a daily basis.

Atwater is one of the most dangerous federal prisons in California after Victorville and Lompoc.

Guards have been complaining for months that the prison has became too dangerous and many guards and staff are quitting and finding new jobs as a result which has left the penitentiary even further understaffed.

Part of the reason that guards are under attack is because the Federal Prison system is notorious for allowing guards to gang up on inmates and assault them with flashlights and other devices and do things that are very close to torture.

In fact a former corrections lieutenant who worked the prison was indicted in May by a federal grand jury for allegedly beating an inmate with a flashlight.

Inmates at a U.S. Penitentiary in Lompoc have complained for months that guards lock inmates in rooms out of view of cameras and then assault them. Lompoc has a long history of assault on inmates and has had a couple serious riots in the past few months.
